Spaceport America

In June of 2018, Shelby and I were fortunate enough to be invited to Spaceport America for the annual Spaceport America Cup. The Cup is designed around the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition – for student rocketry teams. This competition hosts teams from American and International Colleges and Universities. The competition is challenging for the participants and exciting for spectators. University students launched solid, liquid, and hybrid rockets to target altitudes of 10,000 and 30,000 feet.

We really enjoyed ourselves and so grateful to my friend, Melissa Force, for inviting us and letting us be a part of this amazing event.  I almost had to persuade Shelby to go, letting her know they would be shooting off rockets.  I failed to explain the competition to her and she was very amazed at the rockets that these students built and launched.  Melissa also gave us a tour of the Spaceport, which was quite interesting.  I hope to go back again.  Check out their website for more information on the Spaceport America Cup.
